Bucknell Women's Soccer Places 20 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Twenty of the 25 student-athletes on the Bucknell women's soccer squad qualified for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Thursday. Among the Bison contingent named to the Honor Roll were senior Tara Cort and juniors Meghan Fitzpatrick and Emily Trosch, who have Bucknall a league-high three players with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages. Earlier this year, coach Ben Landis' squad was honored with an NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 16th year in a row. The Bison compiled an outstanding team grade-point average of 3.54, which ranked among the national leaders. Earlier this year Cort was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Team, and she joined classmate Megan DeGennaro on the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Cort, DeGennaro and Fitzpatrick all made the Capital One Academic All-District Team for women's soccer. Both of Bucknell's All-Patriot League honorees -- Cort and junior goalkeeper Sandita McDermott -- also made the Academic Honor Roll. American led the league with 22 Honor Roll members, with Bucknell just behind with 20. Lafayette had 18, while Holy Cross and Lehigh had 17 each. Army, Navy and Colgate had seven honorees apiece. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average during the semester of their sport's competition.
