Bucknell Softball Defeated by Saint Louis, 11-5

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - After surrendering six runs in the third inning, the Bucknell softball team dropped its last spring break game at the Rebel Spring Games on Friday. The Bison pitchers yielded nine walks in the defeat. Alyssa Okita (Davis, Calif./Davis) went 2-for-3 and collected one RBI for the Orange and Blue. In the bottom of the first inning, Bucknell's Erin Curatola (River Edge, N.J./River Dell) blasted a single down the left field line that scored Mary Pavlovich (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) and Monica Grinage (Rankin, Pa./Shady Side Academy) to give the Bison a 2-1 lead. The Billikens took over the lead after Christy Ernst and Jill Pursell registered back-to-back RBI's. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, Ashley Beans (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) was hit by a pitch that brought home Sherry Finkel (Morgantown, W.Va./University). Cassie Lloyd (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) drove in Curatola, while Okita singled to left field to drive in the fifth run. Christie Wiest (Centre Hall, Pa./Penns Valley), now 2-9 on the season, picked up the loss for the Bison, surrendering four earned runs and five hits. Curatola finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in, while Lloyd went 2-for-4, and collected one RBI. With its six-game spring break trip to Florida complete, Bucknell (5-14) will travel to Princess Anne, Md., to play Maryland Eastern Shore on March 24, at 2 p.m.
