HAMILTON, N.Y. - Junior catcher Stacy Mui drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game of a Patriot League doubleheader to lead the Colgate softball team to a sweep over Bucknell Saturday afternoon at the Eaton Street Field.

The Bison dropped the opener 4-3, before losing a 6-2 decision in the nightcap against the Raiders. These same two teams will play another Patriot League doubleheader on Sunday at 12 noon.

In the opener, Bucknell jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on two unearned runs. Sophomore Jill Pompeii drove in the first run with a single to right field, and senior Meredith Gill drove in the second run also on a single to right.

The Raiders tied the contest in the third inning on Kim Olmstead's single and Melissa Rawson's RBI double. The Orange and Blue moved back in front 3-2 in the fifth inning on junior Angela Stackhouse's RBI single up the middle, scoring Gill, who had reached base on a single.

For the second time, Colgate came back to tie the game when the Raiders scored in the bottom of the fifth on Dorothy Donaldson's single down the left field line.

In the seventh inning, Melissa Rawson reached on a one-out single, and was forced out at second on a fielder's choice by Natalie Rawson. Natalie Rawson moved to second on a walk to Donaldson, and Mui followed with her third game-winning hit of the season.

Gill was 2-for-4 in the game with an RBI and a run scored.

In the second game, Colgate took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Donaldson's two-run double before increasing its advantage to 3-0 in the second inning on Olmstead's sacrifice fly.

The Raiders scored twice more in the third inning on a wild pitch that scored Melissa Rawson and a fielding error by Bucknell. Colgate's final run came in the fourth inning on Smith's single, but the 6-1 hole BU faced was too much to overcome.

The Bison tacked on a run in the top of the seventh but that was all the squad could muster in the 6-2 loss. Freshman Kris Devore went 2-for-4 in the contest with one RBI.

Bucknell falls to 6-21 overall and 3-4 in Patriot League play. Colgate improves to 14-9 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
