HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate senior shortstop Melissa Rawson went 5-for-6 with three RBI and a record-breaking home run to lead the Colgate softball (16-9, PL 5-3) to a doubleheader sweep over Bucknell Sunday, 3-2 and 7-3, at the Eaton Street Field.

In the second game, Rawson broke the Patriot League record for career home runs with her 22nd, and eighth of the season. She hit her record-breaking home run to lead off the fourth inning to give Colgate a 1-0 lead.

In the opener, Colgate opened the scoring in the first inning, when Kim Olmstead came home on Natalie Rawson's fielder's choice.

Bucknell took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on RBI singles by Jennifer Ross and Kimberly Grunwald.

After giving up the two runs, Colgate pitcher Elena Isaac settled down and retired 14 straight batters before Jill Pompeii reached on an error in the seventh inning.

Colgate scored its winning runs in the third inning. Olmstead led off the frame with a walk, and advanced to second on Rachel Smith's sacrifice bunt. Melissa Rawson followed with a walk and pinch runner Erica Anderson moved to third on a wild pitch. Natalie Rawson then doubled off the centerfield fence to drive in Anderson with the tying run and two batters later Stacy Mui drove in the winning run with a single up the middle.

In the nightcap, Rawson broke a scoreless game with her leadoff homer in the fourth inning, and then the Raiders scored three runs in the fifth inning for a 4-0 lead.

The Bison got back into the contest in the sixth inning when Kris Devore blasted a three-run home run over the right centerfield fence, the first of her career. Kristen Potts started the rally with a one-out single to shortstop. Angela Stackhouse drew a walk, and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Devore stepped up and delivered her shot to cut it to 4-3.

Colgate answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame on Melissa Rawson's RBI single and Natalie Rawson's two-run double.

Bucknell falls to 6-23 overall and 3-6 in Patriot League play. The Orange and Blue host George Washington for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. on April 16.
