Bucknell Swimming and Diving Hosts Colgate and Army on Back-to-Back Days Starting Friday
Jan. 9, 2013
LEWISBURG, Pa. - A rare Friday morning dual meet will mark the return to Patriot League competition for the Bucknell swimming and diving program, which hosts Colgate at 10 a.m. Friday. Approximately 24 hours after the conclusion of that dual, the Bison will welcome Army to Kinney Natatorium for a 1 p.m. meet. Bucknell has not faced a Patriot League foe in a dual since Lafayette on Nov. 10.
This will mark the first time in 2012-13 the Bison have had duals on back-to-back days. The Bucknell men bring a 4-3 overall record into the weekend, including 2-1 against Patriot League competition. The Bison women are 3-4 overall and 2-1 opposite Patriot League foes.
Both Bucknell squads ended a month-long layoff this past Saturday at Columbia. Junior Mike Nicholson (Male Swimmer of the Week), sophomore Lauren Perry (Female Swimmer of the Week) and sophomore Katie Hetherington (Female Diver of the Week) were honored with Patriot League weekly awards. Nicholson posted two first-place finishes against the Lions, while Perry had three runner-up showings. Hetherington posted a Bison win on the diving board, claiming the one-meter title.
Bucknell will not leave Kinney Natatorium again during the remainder of the regular season. The Bison will host Lehigh (Jan. 26) and the Bison Invite (Feb. 2) as they continue preparations for hosting the Patriot League Championship (Feb. 21-23).
Colgate's men are 0-5 this season and 0-1 in Patriot League action. The Army men are 5-2 overall and 0-1 against Patriot League foes. The Black Knights will swim at Lehigh on Friday at 5 p.m.
The Colgate women are 4-2, 1-0 PL, while the Army women are 4-4, 0-1 PL. The Black Knight women also face Lehigh on Friday.
