Bucknell Swimming and Diving Closes Regular Season Saturday at Navy Invitational
Jan. 29, 2010
LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell swimming and diving teams will travel to Annapolis, Md., Saturday to compete in the Navy Invitational. This non-team-scoring event will be the Bison's final competition before next month's Patriot League Championship meet. Also competing in the Invitational will be American, George Washington and Old Dominion. This will be the Bison's second chance this season to swim against the Midshipmen and Eagles, and the first time matching up with Old Dominion and George Washington. Bucknell last swam ODU in 2007 during the Bucknell Trials/Finals Invitational. In this year's previous meetings with American and Navy, both the men's and women's teams came out on top of the Eagles (M: 229-60, W: 203-94) and fell to the Mids (M: 156-122, W: 161-128) The Bison men's and women's teams both wrapped up their dual-meet schedules last weekend against Lehigh. The women came out on top of the Mountain Hawks and enhanced their record to 7-3, while the men dropped in a 166.5-131.5 decision and fell to 4-5. Coming out of the weekend, freshman David Magaro was honored with Patriot League Male Diver of the Week award. Magaro's sweep of the boards at Lehigh was the third time this season he was able to win both boards in a dual meet. On the women's side, Courtney Warren also had a very strong meet, winning both the 100 free and 100 back. She set a pool record in the 100 back with a time of 57.59 seconds and extended her undefeated record in the event for dual meets this season.
Saturday's Invitational will begin at 12 p.m. at Navy's Lejeune Hall. The meet will be the Navy men's and women's second consecutive day of competition after hosting nationally ranked Virginia Friday afternoon.
Next for both Bucknell teams will be the Patriot League Championships, Feb. 18-20, back at the Naval Academy. |
