Bucknell's Katie Hetherington Named Patriot League Female Diver of the Week for Fourth Time in 2012-13
Feb. 4, 2013
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore Katie Hetherington (Houston, Texas/Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart) was named the Patriot League Female Diver of the Week on Monday. It marks the fourth time this year Hetherington has been honored, and the eighth time in her two-year career. Hetherington was Bucknell's top finisher off both boards at Saturday's Bison Invite, placing third off the one-meter and fourth off the three-meter. Her one-meter score of 246.80 was her fourth-best mark of the season, while her 255.00 off the three-meter marked her fifth time exceeding 250.00. A Second Team All-Patriot League selection in 2012, Hetherington already owns the school record off both boards. She has 10 total first-place finishes this season and has scored above a 240.00 off both boards in four consecutive meets. One of nine different Bucknell student-athletes to earn Patriot League Female Diver of the Week since it was instituted in 2002-03, Hetherington's eight career awards are double any other Bison. Erika Mannix is second on that list, earning four career citations, all in 2004-05.
Saturday's Bison Invite was not scored at the team level as Bucknell wrapped up its regular season. Hetherington and her Bison teammates are now in the midst of preparations for the Patriot League Championship, which will take place Feb. 21-23 at Kinney Natatorium. Hetherington finished second (three-meter) and third (one-meter) at last year's league championship meet.
