Bucknell Women's Tennis Wraps Up Cornell Invite with Pair of Wins
Jan. 29, 2011
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women’s tennis closed out the Cornell Winter Invitational with a pair of consolation-round victories at The Reis Tennis Center on Saturday. Courtney Casey (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Visitation) earned a singles win, while Lauren Rottkamp (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and Elizabeth Morgan (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne’s-Belfield School) came out on top in doubles. Casey had to fight for her victory in the Flight B backdraw. The junior won the first set against Army’s Holly Pappafotis, 6-2 before losing the second set by the same score. Casey had the final say, however, winning 10-7 in the deciding frame. Pappafotis was at the wrong end of the scoreline in doubles as well. Paired with Kari Pope, the Black Knights team lost 8-4 to Rottkamp and Morgan in the Flight B consolation rounds. In their 20 matches on Saturday, Bucknell met Patriot League foe Army 11 times. The Black Knights won nine of those meetings. Bucknell will return to the court next weekend for a pair of dual matches in Pittsburgh. Play starts with Pittsburgh on Feb. 4 and continues at Duquesne the following day. BUCKNELL RESULTS Consolation
