Bison Women's Tennis Downs Pittsburgh 4-3 for Second Win of the Weekend

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Freshman Daniella Shtemberg defeated Pittsburgh's Leah Friedman at four singles to secure the deciding point in Bucknell's 4-3 victory over Pittsburgh, Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa. After dropping the second set, Shtemberg rallied back to take the crucial third set, winning the match 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. The win is the second of the weekend for the Bison, now 4-0 this spring. The Bison won the doubles point winning matches at one and three doubles. Veronica Brown and Nada Curcic recorded a win on the first court, shutting out Emily Hughes and Jill Williams, 8-0. Rheanna Gaskin and Chelsea Mills won their match at three doubles, besting Friedman and Carlie Smith, 8-6. In singles play, Curcic was the winner at court one, taking out Williams 6-2, 6-4. On court two, Brown defeated Becky Emmers, 6-2, 6-1. The Bison will spend next week's spring break in Orlando, Fla. Their first match, against Stephen F. Austin, is set for Sunday, March 13, beginning at 8 a.m. Bucknell will play a total of four matches while in Florida. Results:
