Bucknell Women's Tennis Aces St. Bonaventure, 5-2

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's women's tennis team improved to 3-4 this spring with a 5-2 victory over St. Bonaventure Saturday at blustery Gerhard Fieldhouse Courts. The Bison took advantage of a default at No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point, then received singles wins from Nadezda Curcic, Kristin Inglis and Tanya Sichko to earn the victory. Inglis and Sichko also teamed for a key 8-3 victory over Michelle Kearney and Johanna Pesola at No. 2 doubles. Curcic and Sichko both yielded only a single game in their singles victories. Curcic was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Amanda Pesono at No. 2, while Sichko improved to a team-best 12-3 this season with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jennifer Iannone at No. 5. Inglis provided the clinching point with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Kearney at No. 4 singles. For St. Bonaventure, Pesola defeated Jill Wurzburg 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1, and Natalie Rumpel won a three-setter from Ashley Diers at No. 3. The Bison, who lost to Pittsburgh 4-0 on Friday evening, play their third home match in three days on Sunday against Mount St. Mary's at 2 p.m.
