WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Bucknell women's tennis team's chances of qualifying for the Patriot League Tournament in two weeks took a hit on Saturday, as the Bison stringers lost at American, 5-2. Bucknell has Lehigh and Army still on the conference schedule, with both matches to take place in Lewisburg within the next week.

American took two out of three doubles matches to claim the afternoon's first point. Kristina Georgieva and Katarina Kollarova defeated Bucknell's Veronica Brown and Rheanna Gaskin, 8-4 on court one, while the Eagles' Julia Colarusso and Aleksandra Zerkalova defeated Samantha Berthod and Nadezda Curcic, 8-4. One historical note was achieved with Tanya Sichko's win with Chelsea Mills over Tessa Hollyn-Taub and Kirsten Wegel, 8-3 on court three, as Sichko recorded her 103rd win as a Bison, putting her past Steve Bomberger '99 for the most singles and doubles wins combined by any Bucknell tennis player, male or female.

Bucknell recorded its two points at fourth singles, with Berthod's 6-1, 6-1 win over Ashley Retlev, and at sixth singles with Mills' 6-1, 6-2 win over Ashley Wroten. American took the other four singles contests. On court one, Brown lost to Georgieva, 6-7(4), 6-1, 7-5, while Gaskin lost to Kollarova, 6-0, 7-6(3) on court two. Curcic lost her first singles match of the spring on court three to Zerkalova, 6-1, 6-4, while Sichko fell to Colarusso, 6-4, 6-0 at fifth singles.

The Bison will have two non-conference matches before they see their next Patriot League foe. Mount St. Mary's comes to Lewisburg on Monday at 3 p.m., while Villanova comes to Bucknell on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Lehigh completes the homestand on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
