Bucknell Women's Tennis Falls to Duquesne, 4-2

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's tennis team dropped a matched to Duquesne, 4-2, after only playing singles, on Friday afternoon in the Gerhard Fieldhouse in Lewisburg, Pa. Senior Veronica Brown (Derwood, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) and freshman Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstwon) picked up the two wins for the Bison. Brown defeated Johanna Bezjak in the No. 1 singles position, 6-2, 4-6, 6-, while Globerman went onto dominate over Andrea Sailer in two sets, 6-1, 6-4. Playing a tight match in the No. 2 spot for the Orange and Blue was senior Chelsea Mills (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley), who battled in three sets, but fell to Jacqueline Hughes, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. In the first dual match of her collegiate career was freshman Tiffany Card (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional), who fought for every point, but fell on the short end of a 6-3, 7-5 score against Abigail Ball in the No. 6 spot. Bucknell will return to action on Saturday at 10 a.m., against Pittsburgh, followed with a match against Towson, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., on the Bison's outdoor tennis courts in Lewisburg, Pa.
