Bison Women's Tennis Defeats Colgate 5-2

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Bucknell women's tennis team won its second Patriot League match of the week on Friday, besting Colgate 5-2, in Hamilton, N.Y. Senior Nada Curcic kept her win streak alive, winning her 13th-straight singles contest. Just as impressive, Curcic and Veronica Brown notched their 13th-consecutive victory in doubles play. The Bison are 12-2 on the season, 3-1 in Patriot League play. The Bison rackets swept the doubles matches with Curcic and Brown defeating Jamie Maldow and Alex Seaton, 8-4, at one doubles. On the second court, Tanya Sichko and Chelsea Mills bested Marissa Alikpala and Lilien Vo, 8-6. Rheanna Gaskin and Daniella Shtemberg also earned a win, taking out Ali Grabler and Lindsay Grossman, 8-6, at three doubles. In singles play, Curcic beat Alikpala at one singles, 6-4, 7-5. Shtemberg upended Maldow, 6-2, 6-3, at two singles. On the fourth court, Sichko shut out Grossman, 6-0, 6-0. Mills earned the final point for Bucknell, outplaying Grabler, 6-4, 6-0. The Bison will be back in Lewisburg on Sunday as they take on the Lafayette Leopards in Patriot League action. The event is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on the Bucknell Tennis Courts.
