April 10, 2004
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Nadezda Curcic and Chelsea Mills won in both singles and doubles but it wasn't quite enough as Bucknell dropped a close 4-3 decision to defending Patriot League champion Army on Saturday. The Bison had won three straight matches, all by 4-3 margins, and fell to 14-3 on the season. With the loss Bucknell dropped to 2-3 in the Patriot League, and the Bison will need Lehigh to lose its final two league matches to Colgate and Army in order to secure the final Patriot League Tournament berth. First-place Army improved to 15-7, 4-0. The Black Knights won at first and second doubles to begin the day with a 1-0 lead. Curcic and Mills teamed for a 9-7 win over Amanda Paluch and Pam Chavez at No. 3 doubles. Bucknell won at third, fifth and sixth singles, but could not come up with the all-important fourth point. Curcic was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Megan Noble at No. 3. Tanya Sichko defeated Paluch 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5, and Mills defeated Chavez 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
