Bison Women's Tennis Blanks Lafayette, 7-0

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell cruised through the singles matches, winning all six, while also picking up two of three doubles bouts on its way to a 7-0 victory over visiting Patriot League rival Lafayette in women's tennis action on Thursday, April 11. The Bison only surrendered three games in doubles action as the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams each blanked the Leopards 8-0. At No. 2, freshmen Nadezda Curcic and Ashley Diers teamed up to defeat Monika Serrano and Ali Kelley, and senior Kristin Inglis and freshman Tanya Sichko paired up to win at No. 3 over Jessica Abel and Lisa Sayed. The Orange and Blue took five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Junior Jill Wurzburg picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lily Fardshisheh at No. 1, before Curcic defeated Serrano 7-6 (1), 6-1 at No. 2. The No. 3 bout went to Diers, who defeated Shannon Rowe, 6-3, 6-2, before Inglis pulled out a come-from-behind victory over Kelley at No. 4, winning 2-6, 7-6 (2), 10-6. Sichko and sophomore Samantha Berthod rounded out Bucknell's scoring with a 6-3, 6-0 victory for Sichko at No. 5 and a 6-4, 6-2 triumph for Berthod at No. 6. The Bison improve to 10-8 overall and 1-4 in the Patriot League. The team is in action next at Towson on Saturday, April 13, for a 1:00 p.m. match.
