WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Bucknell women's tennis team (3-16, 1-3 PL) traveled to West Point, N.Y., to take on Patriot League opponent Army Saturday afternoon. The Black Knights ended up defeating the Bison, 7-0. Army wrapped up its season with a 19-6 overall and 5-0 conference record.
The Bison had less than 24 hours to recover and prepare for Army after coming off of their first win of the season in the Patriot League against Lehigh. The Black Knights took full advantage of the unrested Bison, taking two of three matches in doubles play and sweeping the singles action.
In singles play, Dumitria Iepuras fought well in her first set against junior Erin Colton but ultimately ended up losing the set 7-5 and the No. 1 match, 7-5, 6-1.
Tuzhikova battled in her No. 4 singles bout taking the first set 6-3 over Margaret Iliev. Iliev eventually pulled out the victory winning by the score of 3-6, 6-4, 10-2.
Bucknell will have another short turnaround when it travels to face Lafayette Sunday. The contest is Bucknell's final Patriot League match of the regular season. It is slated to start at 10:30 a.m. in Easton, Pa.
