WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - On Sunday afternoon, the Bison women's tennis team dropped Lafayette, 6-0, at the West Branch Tennis Courts. Bucknell improves to 5-13 (2-2 PL), while the Leopards fall to 6-6 (1-2 PL).

In singles play, sophomore Paulina Gamboa (Mexico, City, Mexico/Greengates) posted her sixth straight victory at the No. 2 spot defeating Ansley Scudder, 6-4, 6-1. She now holds a record of 8-10, with a 4-0 mark in Patriot League play. Sophomore Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) took down Sarah Sykes in the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Tania Varela (Quito, Ecuador/Alliance Academy) beat Danielle Bailey, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 1 spot, to put the Bison up 3-0.

In the No. 6 spot, sophomore Camille Simonetti (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) clinched Bucknell's second league victory after she stifled Kim Sialiano, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Carlin Calcaterra (Hinsdale, Ill./ Hinsdale Central) defeated Nancy Parker in the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-3, while freshman Kirstyn Sotak (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) took down Jacqui Bonder, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 5 spot.

Bucknell will battle Binghamton on Tuesday, Apr. 17, at the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
