Bucknell's Women's Tennis Prevails Past Lehigh 4-3

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s tennis team made it two straight wins with a 4-3 decision over Lehigh Wednesday night. The Bison are now 14-6 this season, with a 3-1 Patriot League record. Senior Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates School) led the Bison with a win in doubles and singles. Teaming up with sophomore Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School For Girls), Bucknell’s top pairing was able to beat Lehigh’s Ariela Cohen and Allison Schwartz in the No. 1 doubles court with a score of 8-1 to produce their 12th win of the spring (12-1). Gamboa also won in the No. 2 singles spot, defeating Schwartz again, with a score of 6-3, 6-1, to get her 10th win of the spring (10-7) and the 131th overall win of her career (131-117). Other Bison to get individual wins were seniors Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown High School) and sophomore Dara Dwojewski (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) in the No. 3 spot of doubles and junior Tania Varela (Quito, Ecuador/Alliance Academy) and freshman Dumitrita Iepuras (Chisinau, Moldova/Germantown Friends School) in the No. 1 and No. 4 spots of singles, respectively. Next up for the Bison is a home match against Bloomsburg, April 22, at 4:30 p.m., on the Fieldhouse Courts. Doubles
