Bison Women's Tennis Drops Tough Decision to Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Bison women's tennis team dropped a close 4-3 decision to Binghamton on Tuesday in Binghamton, N.Y. Tanya Sichko, Chelsea Mills and Caitlin Baffa all earned singles wins for Bucknell. Nada Curcic's 16-match win-steak was halted by Binghamton's Zeynep Altinay, who took out Curcic at one singles, 6-4, 6-1. Sichko fought back from a set down to win her match at three singles, defeating Bearcat Lya Kushnirovich, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Mills was the winner at four singles, besting Jennifer Naegeli, 6-1, 6-2. Baffa came up with the win at six singles, beating Vera Popova, 6-1, 7-5. The Bison got one doubles win, but failed to win the doubles point, as Curcic and Veronica Brown topped Jelena Koprivica and Naegeli, 8-4, at one doubles. The Bison, now 15-5 on the season, will host their final home competition tomorrow as they take on local rival Bloomsburg. The match is set for 4:30 p.m., at the Bucknell Tennis Courts.
