WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bucknell women’s tennis struggled on day two of the Eastern Championships at West Point, N.Y., on Saturday. The Bison managed just one singles and one doubles victory on their final day of the tournament.

Jennie Ciotti (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and Daria Tuzhikova (Minsk, Belarus/Gymnasium No. 7) earned the doubles win, defeating Jessica DeCartes and Tina Martine of Fairleigh Dickinson in the Lichtenberg Doubles draw, 8-4. They later fell to the team from Pitt by the same score.

Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul’s School for Girls) saw her winning streak in singles end early in the day as she lost in the main draw to Binghamton’s Jillian Santos in a tough match, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. The junior then dropped her first match in the Honor Singles draw, falling 8-2 to Rhode Island’s Kirsten Leikem.

Lucido bounced back in the consolation half of the draw to defeat Liv Pettersson 8-1. Her day finally came to an end at the hands of another Rhode Island opponent, falling to Aleksandra Paulovic.

The Bison will return to Lewisburg for their next match of the season, hosting another Bucknell Invitational Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Bucknell Tennis Courts.
