Bucknell Women's Tennis Concludes Play at St. Joe's, Bloomsburg
Sept. 30, 2012
PHILADELPHIA – Bucknell women’s tennis got shut out on the final day of the Saint Joseph’s Invitational but picked up two more victories at the Bloomsburg Fall Classic as play concluded on Sunday. Inking their names in the wins column were Sam Madnick and Kristen Bishof as they claimed straight-sets decisions in Bloomsburg. Madnick was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over East Stroudsburg’s Allison Bean, while Kristen Bishof defeated Bloomsburg’s Erin Reitenauer 6-0, 6-3. Elizabeth Morgan nearly came back from a first-set loss against her opponent from Wilkes but could not pull out the win, falling 3-6, 6-4, 10-4. After yesterday’s opening rounds of play, the original draw at the Bloomsburg Fall Classic was abandoned due to the number of matches pitting teammates against each other. Play resumed on Sunday with a new schedule of play independent of yesterday’s results. In Philadelphia, Maria Cioffi saw her singles run come to an end in a super tiebreak against Aurora Davis of Saint Joseph’s. The Bison freshman fell 6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-2 in the Flight 2 semifinals. Doubles play saw a similar struggle in the semifinal round. Cioffi and Elena Vidrascu dropped an 8-3 decision to Delaware. Jen Bush also saw her tournament end in the semis with a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Saint Francis’ Camila Diaz.
Bucknell will be idle next weekend then return to action Oct. 12-14 at the Lehigh Invitational. BUCKNELL RESULTS Doubles – Consolation Singles – Semifinals Singles – Consolation Bloomsburg Fall Classic Singles |
