Bucknell Continues to Roll in Women's Tennis with a 7-0 Win Over NJIT

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s tennis team used its home court advantage to easily defeat the New Jersey Institute of Technology Saturday, 7-0. The Bison’s record is now 10-5. Seniors Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown High School), Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates School), junior Tania Varela (Quito, Ecuador/Alliance Academy) and sophomore Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School For Girls) all grabbed doubles and singles victories to lead the Bison. Bucknell did not lose a single set in its defeat of NJIT. Gamboa’s 6-4 (6-4, 6-0) decision in the first set of the No. 2 singles match was the closest singles set of the day for Bucknell. Gamboa and Lucido’s victory in first doubles gave them a team-best record of 8-1 this spring. Lucido, sophomore Lauren Rottkamp (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) and freshman Dumitrita Iepuras (Chisinau, Moldova/Germantown Friends School) all picked up singles wins to each reach 11 wins a piece this spring. Next up for Bucknell will be another home contest against Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, April 1, at 3 p.m., on the Fieldhouse Courts.
