LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell’s women’s tennis is looking to win its first Patriot League championship since 1994, when it defeated Colgate 5-2. The Bison will be hosting the women’s tournament for the first time since 2001.

The No. 2 seeded Bison (14-6), who earned a first-round bye for the second straight year, will play the winner of Friday’s 2 p.m. matchup between fourth-seeded Lehigh and sixth-seeded Lafayette. That match is slated for Saturday at 2 p.m. No. 1 seeded Army (22-8) also gets a first-round bye and will play the winner of Friday’s contest between fourth-seeded Holy Cross and fifth-seeded Colgate.

The final match is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Sunday. In last year’s final, Army edged the Bison 4-3 to win the title for the fourth consecutive year.

Bucknell Women’s Tennis Notebook:

• Bucknell’s current overall record of 14-6 (3-1 in Patriot League play) is the Bison’s first double-digit winning season since 2004-2005, when they went 17-5. It is also the sixth time in Rebecca Helt’s 12 years as the Bison’s head coach that Bucknell has had a winning record.
• The Bison have already defeated each of their potential semifinal opponents this season. Bucknell defeated Lafayette 7-0 at home on April 12 and Lehigh on the road on April 15, 4-3.
• Bucknell has six “go-to” singles players this spring who have 10 or more victories, led by Lauren Rottkamp, Dumitrita Iepuras and Lauren Lucido, each with 14.

• Bucknell has suffered only one losing streak this spring, falling back-to-back against Barry and Nova Southeastern.
• Iepuras’ 25-9 career record gives her a .735 winning percentage for a team-best mark. Varela’s .708 (97-40) comes in second-best for the Bison.
• The Bison have registered 7-0 victories over seven teams this spring.
• Gamboa has played 248 career matches, the most on the current Bucknell roster. She is 131-117 (.528) in those matches.
