LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls), a team captain on the tennis team, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in Terrace Room on Tuesday, May 3.

Lucido won the Bradley N. Tufts Award, presented to senior athletes "in recognition of exceptional athletic achievement and contribution to Bucknell athletics". Lucido shared the award with Richie Hyden of the water polo team, who was the male selection.

The current Bucknell record-holder in singles, doubles and combined victories, Lucido recently earned her fourth All-Patriot League citation. A first-team honoree this year, the native of Woodstock, Md., became the winningest tennis player in Bison history on April 2 when she defeated her opponent from Colgate in straight sets. She has since improved her overall record to 170-71. After leading Bucknell to a Patriot League Tournament semifinal appearance, the two-year captain overtook the records in singles (87-36) and doubles (83-35) as well.

Lucido is one of two Bison to be named to an All-Patriot League tennis team all four years of her career along with former teammate Tania Varela, who received the Bradley N. Tufts Award last season. Lucido will graduate with a degree in sociology later this month.

Bucknell is a highly-selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of 3,583 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 16 of 20 years, including 12 of the last 13.

Bucknell annually ranks among the national leaders in graduation rate and is fifth in Division I in the total number of CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, with 119 national Academic All-Americans since 1970.
