AUBURN, Ala. - The Bucknell men's and women's track and field team opened competition at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic on Friday afternoon, with the men's hammer throw. The women's hammer throw was also scheduled to take place on day one, however lightning delays resulted in postponing the event until Saturday at 10 a.m.

Bucknell's lone competitor on the first day of the Auburn Classic was senior James Meyer (Pac. Palisades, Calif./Pacific Palisades). He posted a distance of 165-10 in the men's hammer throw to take second in his flight and 11th overall. Meyer was coming off a career-best throw and the eighth-best mark in program history for the hammer throw this past weekend at the Maryland Invitational (168-9). Senior Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) was scheduled to compete in the hammer throw, but will throw tomorrow.

The Tiger Track Classic will conclude on Saturday, April 5. Saturday's field events will begin 10 a.m. with the men's javelin and the women's hammer throw. Running events are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. with the women's 4x100 relay.
