JACKSONVILLE, Fla.Kat Folger (Groton, Mass./Bishop Guertin) and Tayler Siegrist (Madison, N.J./Madison) finished 31st and 32nd, respectively, in the javelin at the NCAA Championships East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday evening. The meet, which established the Bison duo as two of the top throwers in the East Region, wrapped up a successful 2012 season for Bucknell women’s track and field.

Folger improved with each passing throw on Thursday and ultimately finished with a best of 133 feet, 8 inches. Siegrist was close behind with a mark of 133-2.

It was the second time of both Siegrist’s and Folger’s careers that they qualified for the NCAA East Prelims. Thursday’s finishes both marked an improvement over their 2011 results in which Siegrist placed 42nd and Folger was 45th.

A senior, Folger finishes her career at Bucknell with the third-best throw in program annals. The 2012 Patriot League champion in the javelin, Folger’s personal record of 156-6 came this April at the Bucknell Team Challenge.

Bucknell will continue at the NCAA East Prelims tomorrow as Leonard Joseph (Whitesboro, N.Y./Clinton) competes in the hammer throw at 10 a.m.

BUCKNELL RESULTS
31. Kat Folger – 133-8
32. Tayler Siegrist – 133-2
