LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Kayla Halloran (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) has been named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week after her stellar performance in the distance events at last weekend's Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships. Halloran won the her first PL gold medal in the 5,000-meters and nabbed a silver medal in the 3,000-meters.

Halloran managed a come-from-behind victory in the 5,000 on Saturday overtaking Lehigh's Jennifer Schappert in the last lap of the 25-lap race. Her time of 17:32.89 was a personal-best by 20 seconds as well as an ECAC qualifying mark. In the 3,000, Halloran nearly earned another gold when she narrowly missed catching American's Keira Carlstrom in the final stretch. Halloran clocked a time of 10:13.48, another personal-best time.

Halloran's efforts helped the Bison women to their fourth-consecutive PL title. The Bison totaled 211.50 points, 81.50 points ahead of second place Navy. The Bison will be off until the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on the weekend of March 5-6, in Boston, Mass. Halloran and the other Bison athletes who have met the qualifying standards will be eligible to compete at the championships.
