Bucknell Women's Track and Field Earns Patriot League Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's track and field program earned its first outdoor Patriot League honor of 2006, for the week ending April 2, the League office announced Tuesday morning. Junior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) was named the Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Liberty Invitational on April 1.
Grap surpassed the ECAC Championship qualifying mark in the discus at the Invitational, by recording a heave of 138 feet, five inches, also earning a second place finish. She also won the hammer throw with a mark of 176, while placing third in the shot put, recording a toss of 42-6 1/2.
Earlier in the season, Grap, the returning Patriot League Champion in the discus, also qualified for the ECACs in the hammer throw, throwing for 172-11.
Grap and the rest of the Bucknell track and field squad will head to Princeton, N.J., for the two-day Sam Howell Invitational, scheduled for April 7-8.
