Stephanie Fulmer Receives Athletic Award at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X), a captain on the women's cross country and track and field teams, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in Terrace Room on Tuesday, May 1.
Fulmer won the Christy Mathewson Award, presented to "the outstanding senior athletes." Fulmer shared the award with Robert Arent of the men's track and field team, who was the male selection.
Fulmer has etched her name in the Bucknell record books in more ways than one. In cross country, she became just the third Bison in program history to be named First Team All-Patriot League four times in her career, while as a freshman she placed second and was named the Rookie of the Meet at the championships.
Fulmer holds 14 track and field program top-10 marks, which is tied for the most among current Bison. On the indoor record lists, she is fifth in the 3,000 meters, sixth in the sprint medley relay, seventh and ninth in the distance medley relay, eighth in the mile and 4x800 and 10th in the 1,000. Outdoors, Fulmer ranks third and 10th in the 4x800, third, sixth and eighth in the distance medley, fourth in the 3,000 meters and 10th in the 1,500. She is also a former Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships Rookie of the Meet.
Through both sports, the distance runner has 10 All-Patriot League Team citations. A Patriot League Champion in the indoor 4x800 relay and mile as well as the outdoor 4x800 relay twice and the1,500 meters, Fulmer is a 2009 NCAA East Regional competitor in the 1,500 and qualified for the ECAC Championships more than once.
Fulmer's teams have won six Patriot League team titles - one in cross country, two in indoor track and field and three in outdoor track. Fulmer and the Bison will have the opportunity to remain undefeated at the outdoor championships this weekend when they compete in Worcester, Mass., May 4-5.
Bucknell is a highly-selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of 3,583 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 17 of 21 years, including 13 of the last 14.
Bucknell annually ranks among the national leaders in graduation rate and is fifth in Division I in the total number of CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, with 121 national Academic All-Americans since 1970.
