LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s track and field team was recognized for its academic success by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday. The Bison were named a 2009 Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team for the third consecutive year with a team grade point average of 3.310.

Bucknell was led by Sarah Bella (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham), Rebecca Frey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) who were each selected to the USTFCCCA’s All-Academic Team on Monday. The trio was part of a group recognized for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and meeting either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.

The Bison women’s track and field team also placed 53 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recently, adding to the program’s success in the classroom.

A total of 131 Division I programs were recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams. To be nominated, the squad must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative GPA.
