Volleyball Drops Two More At YSU Tourney
Sept. 26, 2000 COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: UNC-Asheville 3, BUCKNELL 1 Drexel 3, BUCKNELL 0 Youngstown, Ohio --- The Bucknell women's volleyball team dropped two matches this afternoon at the Youngstown State Tournament to finish the tourney with a 0-3 mark. The Bison lost today to UNC Asheville 3-1 (15-12, 15-10, 10-15, 15-11) and to Drexel 3-0 (15-8, 15-9, 15-10). Leading the Orange and Blue in the first game against UNC-Asheville was junior Shannon Walker (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) with a team-high 21 kills on 32 attempts for a .313 hitting percentage. Sophomore Jen Wrigley (Benicia, Calif./Benicia) and senior co-captain Brooke Bader (Elryia, Ohio/Elryia) played a strong supporting offensive role with 18 and 13 kills respectively. In the second contest, Walker led the team again with 11 kills. Overall as a team the Bison finished the match against Drexel with a .163 hitting percentage. Junior setter Whitney Williams (La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla) had another strong tournament finishing the two games today with 91 set assists, 59 against UNC-Asheville and 32 in the Drexel contest. The volleyball team's record now stands at 1-5 and will play next weekend, September 15-16, when it hosts Manhattan, Virginia Commonwealth, St. Francis (PA), and Stony Brook.
