Bucknell Volleyball Takes Three-Set Loss at Army
Sept. 28, 2012
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Kebah Edoho (Odenton, Md./Arundel) led the Bison with nine kills and a .529 attack percentage, but the senior's effort could not help Bucknell volleyball capture its first Patriot League win of the season as Bucknell volleyball fell in straight sets to Army at West Point, N.Y., on Friday night. Army (11-5, 3-0 PL) remained undefeated in conference action with the 25-18, 25-23, 25-18 win. Edoho did most of her damage in the second set, which was also Bucknell's (6-10, 0-3 PL) best of the night. Edoho finished with five kills in just that one frame and the Bison tallied 16 as a team. It was also Bucknell's most efficient offensively, as they hit .333 (16-3-39), a major improvement over its .070 in the first set. Bucknell nearly pulled out the victory in that second set to tie the match. Army's lead never exceeded four points, and a kill from Jessica Serrato (Millbrae, Calif./Saint Ignatius College Prep) gave the Bison an advantage as late as 22-21. Bucknell could not grow its lead, however, and the Black Knights went up by two sets after back-to-back kills from Zoe Kreitenberg. Kreitenberg finished the night with 13 kills, just one behind teammate and former Patriot League Player of the Year Ariana Mankus' 14. Margaux Jarka also had 12 kills as Army totaled 52 as a team. Bucknell registered 35 kills in the meeting. The Bison continued to see some of its most efficient offense in the third set, posting an attack percentage of .310 and tallying 11 kills. After the final point, Bucknell had hit .225 for the match. Army had its top-hitting set in the third and with a .455 mark in the final set, brought its match percentage up to .306.
In addition to her nine kills, Edoho also shared the team lead in blocks with Claire Healy (Tiburon, Calif./Saint Ignatius College Prep) with two apiece. Healy added seven kills, while Serrato had eight. Kat Tauscher (Washington, D.C./National Cathedral) school tallied 30 assists. Also on the defensive end, Morgan Mientus (Chicago, Ill./Saint Ignatius College Prep) had 12 digs. Leylin Marroquin (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) added a season-best 10 digs.
Bucknell will continue its road trip to Holy Cross tomorrow. The match in Worcester, Mass., is slated for a 4 p.m. start. The Crusaders lost in three sets to Colgate on Friday night to fall to 0-17 on the year. |
