LEWISBURG, Pa. - Jackie Leahy registered a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs to lead Bucknell to a 3-1 victory over Navy Friday night in a spirited Patriot League volleyball match at Davis Gym. The victory improves the Bison to 3-1 in Patriot League play (9-6 overall), while Navy fell to 12-5, 1-3.

Courtney Clark hit .409 and recorded 12 kills for the Bison, who won by game scores of 30-20, 30-26, 21-30, 30-23. Chelsea Robertson also had a strong all-around night with nine kills, 12 digs and six blocks.

Ashley Van Hartesvelt led all players with 19 kills for the Mids, while Beth McArthur added eight of her nine put-aways in games three and four.

Bucknell sprinted to early leads in each of the first three games. The Bison led 8-2 in game one after four straight Navy errors, and they led by at least three points the rest of the set. In game two, a pair of kills from Jenna Henderson and one from Clark highlighted a 10-3 run to start the frame. Again Navy was able to pull within three points on three occasions, the last at 29-26, but a hitting error on game point led to a two-games-to-none Bison lead.

Bucknell led 5-1 to start game three following a Robertson kill, but this time the Mids put together their best stretch of the night. Navy hit .324 in the frame and busted open a 10-10 game with an 8-1 run. Setter Ashley Musser closed out the game by dumping for a kill.

In game four it was Bucknell's turn for a comeback as Navy's solid play from game three carried over to a 9-4 cushion following a kill from Van Hartesvelt and a block from Musser and McArthur. But Jessica Le logged a kill, an ace and an assist in a four-point span to help the Bison draw even at 11-11. The game was tied four more times until an error from Van Hartesvelt gave Bucknell a 19-18 lead, an edge it would never relinquish.

Bucknell closed the match on a 12-5 run, sparked by three blocks in a span of four rallies, the last by Robertson and Amanda Grossmann making it 28-20. Grossmann's kill ended the match five points later.

The Bison hit .193 to Navy's .166, and they outdug the Mids 62-48. Libero Carolyn Dougherty led all players with 19 digs.

Bucknell returns to action on Saturday night against three-time defending Patriot League champion American. Game time is 7 p.m. in Davis Gym.
