WORCESTER, Mass. - Jessica Le broke a school record with 66 assists while Becky Fisher hit .513 with a career-high 22 kills to lead the Bucknell volleyball team to a 3-1 Patriot League victory over Holy Cross on Friday night at the Hart Center.

The Bison improved to 10-7 on the season and 4-2 in the Patriot League heading into Saturday's road test at 5-1 Army. Holy Cross, which defeated both Lafayette and Lehigh a week ago, fell to 3-15, 2-4.

After the teams split the first two games of the match - Bucknell won the opener 30-22 and the Crusdaers took game two 30-28 - the Bison took control with one of their most one-sided sets of the season, capturing game three 30-15. Bucknell hit a whopping .519 as a team in the third frame with 15 kills and only one error.

The Bison closed things out with a 30-28 decision in game four.

"This was a real breakout game for us defensively," commented head coach Cindy Opalski. "The defense was terrific tonight. Becky Fisher and Jackie Leahy were both tremendous."

The Bison outdug Holy Cross 97-63, and held a 67-46 edge in kills. Fisher not only topped the 20-kill plateau for the first time in her career, but she made it a 20-20 night with 21 digs as well. She committed only two hitting errors in 39 attempts. Her previous career high was 17 kills against Colgate last season. Fisher had not posted more than seven kills in any match this season.

Leahy added 17 kills, 17 digs and all five of Bucknell's service aces, while Chelsea Robertson also hit double figures with 10 kills. Libero Carolyn Dougherty led all players with 25 digs.

Le's 66 assists shattered the Bucknell record of 61 previously set by Breean Trapasso on Oct. 18, 2002 against Colgate. Le also had 14 digs.

Caitlin Agostinacchio led Holy Cross with 21 kills, while Christine Strawson finished with 11 and five blocks. Valerie Mora paced the Crusaders with 17 digs.

Bucknell hit .282 as a team, its third-best showing of the season, while the Crusaders hit .142.

Bucknell and Army square off at 5 p.m. Saturday at West Point's Gillis Field House.
