HAMILTON, N.Y. - Despite jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the match with a 32-30 win in game one, the Bucknell volleyball team could not hold off Colgate, falling 3-1 to the Raiders who are now 14-10 overall and 9-1 in Patriot League contests. The Bison drop to 11-14 overall, following the setback and fall to 4-6 in league play.

In the opening frame, Bucknell fought back from a 15-11 deficit to pull ahead, 17-15, by tallying six straight points. Colgate managed to tie the score on several occasions after that, but the Bison eventually took the game by logging their 31st and 32nd points on a Raiders' attack error and a block by junior Shannon Pitsch (Oak Brook, Ill./Fenwick) and senior Tessa Mendez (Denver, Colo./Colorado Academy).

Then game two, Colgate used a late surge to take the set, 30-21. With the score even at 12, the Raiders strung together a 9-5 run to build a 21-17 advantage and would follow up by tallying six consecutive points to stretch their lead to 10, remaining ahead by a comfortable margin the rest of the way.

Colgate followed up with a strong start to game three, racing out in front, 8-4. After being behind by as many as seven, Bucknell managed to climb back to within two at 27-25, but the Raiders promptly halted the comeback with three straight points to claim the 30-25 win.

Game four began in a similar fashion as Colgate opened with a 12-6 advantage and rolled to a 30-18 victory in the deciding frame behind a .370 team hitting percentage.

For the Bison, senior Jenna Henderson (Elk Grove, Calif./Laguna Creek) totaled a team-best 15 kills along with 14 digs for a double-double. Freshman Kelsey Lisle (Marriottsville, Md./Seton Keough) was the only other member of the Orange and Blue to break 10 in kills as she finished with 13, while also contributing eight digs and three blocks. Pitsch recorded a double-double with 43 assists and a squad-best 15 digs and junior Sheena Czipri (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) chipped in with 13 digs. Mendez finished the evening with six blocks (1-5) to set a new career high.

Leading the way for the Raiders was Katrina Zawojski with 19 kills and five blocks, while Erin Kanetzke tallied 12 kills and seven blocks, Casey Ritt added 12 kills and Kelsea Loveless compiled 11 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Setter Meghan Fanta registered 53 assists and Jackie Adlam posted a match-high 25 digs.
