Bucknell Volleyball Closes Season with 3-0 Loss at American

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Kristyna Lindovska collected nine kills to lead the American volleyball team to a three-set victory over Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at Bender Arena. Senior Kebah Edoho led the Bison with five kills and three blocks while senior Kat Tauscher added 10 digs and 12 assists in their final collegiate matches. Bucknell concludes the season with a 9-20 overall record, 3-11 in the Patriot League, while American (20-9, 11-3) won its seventh straight conference match and advances to the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 2 seed.
The Eagles trailed for only one point in the first two sets - at 1-0 in the second -- and they took all three frames by scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-20. The opening set was tight at 9-7 when American pulled away with a 10-1 run. The Eagles scored eight straight points on Lindovska's serve to go up 19-8. Edoho's kill gave the Bison the early lead in the second set, but American scored the next three points and led the rest of the way. The Eagles stretched a 6-4 lead to 12-4 with six straight points, capped by a Kelly McCaddin solo block.
The third set was the tightest. American ran out to a 4-0 lead, but the Bison answered with a 4-0 run highlighted by an Edoho kill and service ace by Morgan Mientus. Later in the set Bucknell trailed 8-5 before using another four-point spurt to take the lead. The Bison tied it at 8-8 on an American ball-handling error, and they grabbed the lead for the first time in the set on Kristen Titley's kill.
The see-saw set would be tied at 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 before Bucknell grabbed consecutive points on an Edoho kill an American error to go up 15-13. Sarah Morris' block on Lindovska put the Bison ahead 16-14, but American rallied with three straight points to go back in front 17-16. Kills by Titley and Claire Healy and an AU attack error sent Bucknell back in front 20-19, but that would be its final lead of the day, as American closed it out with a 6-0 run.
Sara Rishell tied the set at 20 with a kill, and then Rishell and Teodora Peric combined on a block to make it 21-10. Rishell's kill ended the match a few moments later.
Leylin Marroquin joined Tauscher in double figures with 10 digs for the Bison. Hannah Young and Karen Campbell both had three blocks, but the Eagles outblocked the Bison 12-7, leading to a -.019 hitting percentage for Bucknell. American hit .271 for the match.
