LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell volleyball team has been picked to finish in fourth place in the Patriot League in 2003, according to a preseason poll of the league's head coaches and sports information directors released Wednesday by the Patriot League office.

The Bison have lost only two letterwinners from a 2002 squad that finished 15-13 overall, 9-5 (third place) in the Patriot League, and advanced to the conference tournament for the 11th time in 12 years.

Two-time defending league champion American, which is 32-0 in conference play since joining the Patriot League prior to the 2001 season, was a near-unanimous pick as preseason favorite. The Eagles garnered 13 of a possible 16 first-place votes.

Lehigh garnered one first-place vote and collected 75 total points, just three more than Army, which pulled in the two remaining first-place nods. Bucknell gathered 66 points, followed by Navy (55), Colgate (36), Holy Cross (31) and Lafayette (16).

Bucknell, which will be led by the senior twin-sister duo of Brandi and Breean Trapasso, kicks off its 2003 campaign this weekend at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Classic. The Bison battle Valparaiso (3:30 p.m. ET) and Nevada (8:30 p.m. ET) on Friday, followed by matches with Fordham (1 p.m. ET) and Fullerton (6 p.m. ET) on Saturday.
