Sept. 6, 2002
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Jennifer Wrigley (Benicia, Calif./Benicia) has received the August Athlete of the Month Award for volleyball from local co-sponsors K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Thursday, Sept. 5. Sponsored by K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of September, as selected by their respective coaches, were junior Kate Ruda for field hockey and sophomore Meghann Chipko for soccer.
Wrigley is a fourth year participant with the Bison and a three-year letter winner. She has played in 13 games (three matches) for Bucknell this season and has been a steady force on the court. With 36 kills so far this season, Wrigley is third on the team in that category.
The volleyball team heads into the weekend with a 1-2 record. The Bison will play in the Stony Brook Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8.
