LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's senior middle blocker, Melanie Ghiz (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) was named Patriot League Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday, Oct. 14. She was also named Bull Run Inn Athlete of the week from the Athletics Communications office. Ghiz helped the Bison to a pair of conference wins last weekend and grabbed a .403 hitting percentage between the two matches.

On Friday evening, Ghiz tallied 14 kills with only one error in 26 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage in a sweep at Holy Cross. She also marked three aces, three digs and six block assists against the Crusaders.

On Saturday evening, the middle blocker earned 17 kills over a 3-1 victory over Black Knights of Army. Ghiz tallied a .341 attack mark during the four-game match, while adding six total blocks for the Bison.

Bucknell will return to action on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y. at Colgate and then travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to play LeMoyne at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20.
