LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's freshman defensive specialist, Chelsea Anderson (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines) was named Patriot League Volleyball Rookie of the Week on Monday, Oct. 21. Anderson assisted the Bison with a 3-1 League victory over Colgate Friday evening.

Anderson tallied 15 digs during the four-game match against the Raiders, Friday evening. On Sunday afternoon, she captured 19 digs against the Le Moyne Dolphins during a 3-1 loss. The rookie averaged 4.25 digs per game last week.

During the 2002 campaign, Anderson has fulfilled the libero position for the Bison. The NCAA added this new position to volleyball this season. The libero is a designated back-row player intended to be used as a ball-control specialist. The libero, wearing a contrasting uniform from her teammates, is allowed to replace any player in the back row without counting as one of the 12 team substitutions. The libero may not serve, attempt a block or attack a ball that is completely above the net. The libero also has restrictions on setting the ball to a teammate for an attack.

Bucknell play host to two Patriot League opponents, Lafayette and Lehigh, this upcoming weekend. On Friday, Oct. 25, the Bison will take on the Leopards of Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. and then on Saturday, Oct. 26 will face the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh at 7:00 p.m.
