Amanda Grossmann Earns Spot on Academic All-District Volleyball First Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior middle hitter Amanda Grossmann (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) was named to the ESPN The Magazine 2006 Academic All-District II University Division Volleyball First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
Grossmann's all-district selection marks the 16th all-time for the Bucknell volleyball program. She was the squad's 15th award winner as well, when she earned District II first team honors in 2005.
This season, Grossmann has appeared in 27 of 28 matches with 26 starts. She is hitting .240 on the year with an average of 1.82 kills per game and has 58 total blocks. One of the tri-captains for the Orange and Blue, Grossmann currently ranks second among the Bison in hitting percentage and in solo blocks (10).
In the classroom, Grossmann has enjoyed equal success, carrying a 3.88 grade-point average as an elementary education major. The three-year starter is a Dean's List student and a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection. Grossmann is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, volunteers her time to read to preschoolers through the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has helped with Lewisburg's downtown cleanup project, the "Thaw Out".
