LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior outside hitter Jackie Leahy (Plainview, N.Y./Bethpage) has been awarded First Team All-Patriot League honors for the second year in a row, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Leahy, a co-captain, becomes the fourth Bucknell player to earn first-team honors more than once, joining Katie Steele (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995), Melissa Wharton (1995, 1996) and Shannon Walker (2000, 2001).

She is finishing off an outstanding two-year stretch in which he has totaled nearly 800 kills and led the Bison to two winning seasons. With 377 kills this season - sixth-most in the Patriot League - she has climbed all the way into third place on Bucknell's career chart with 1,181 kills. Leahy is one of only four players in school history tally 400 kills in a season (she had 413 last year), and with 23 more at this weekend's Patriot League Tournament she would become the first one to do it twice.

Leahy has been Bucknell's "go-to" hitter all season, particularly down the stretch. In a must-win match against Holy Cross in the regular-season finale last Saturday, she tallied a career-high 34 kills as the Bison rallied from an 0-2 deficit to beat the Crusaders and clinch a playoff berth. It was the second 30-kill performance of the season for Leahy (she had 31 at Lafayette on Oct. 1), making her the only Patriot League member of the 30-kill club in 2004. She was awarded Patriot League Player of the Week and Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week accolades after recording the 34 kills against Holy Cross and 21 against Army the previous night.

Leahy has also been strong defensively this season, as she ranks second on the team and 15th in the Patriot League in digs per game (2.51).

Leahy's selection gives Bucknell a first-team all-conference selection for the fifth straight season. She joins Cutrina Biddulph and Courtney Mulford of American; Abby Casciato, Caitlin Machon and Rachel Travis of Army; as well as Holy Cross' Caitlin Agostinaccio and Navy's Ashley Van Hartesvelt on the first team.

Bucknell (14-12, 8-6) will be the No. 3 seed at this weekend's Patriot League Tournament, hosted by top-seeded American. The Bison will square off against No. 2 Army at 8 p.m. on Friday, while American and No. 4 Navy will meet at 6 p.m. in the other semifinal. The championship tilt will be Saturday at 7 p.m.
