Bucknell Women's Water Polo Downs Villanova 10-3, Falls to Princeton 6-5

PRINCETON, N.J. - Sophomore Meagan Gins (Albuquerque, N.M./Valley) tallied five goals and one assist over two games as the Bucknell women's water polo team defeated Villanova, 10-3, and was edged by Princeton, 6-5 on Saturday. The win and loss moves the Bison's record to 10-3 on the year.
Against Villanova, Gins led all Bucknell scorers with three goals, while freshman Aubrey Rowe (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) netted two goals and dished two assists and junior Elizabeth Jensen (San Mateo, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) recorded a goal and an assist. Laura Stalker (New Canaan, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall), Jessica Trimis (La Crescenta, Calif./Crescenta Valley), Jennifer Swoyer (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Amanda Nogic (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) all contributed a goal apiece, as well, to round out the scorers for the Bison. Bucknell was 3-for-4 in 6-on-5 opportunities in the contest.
Junior Mandy Bynum (San Jose, Calif./Leland) started in goal for the Orange and Blue and played the first half, making three saves and registering three assists. Freshman Rachel McGillis (Los Altos, Calif./Los Alots) entered for the second half and made three saves.
The Bison led 4-2 at the half against Princeton, but the Tigers scored outscored Bucknell 3-0 in the third for a come-from-behind 6-5 win.
Gins scored two goals and recorded an assist against Princeton. Jensen posted one goal and two assists and junior Mallory Sullivan (Tulare, Calif./Tulare Western) and Rowe each scored a goal in the setback. Bynum played the full game in net for the Bison and made nine saves.
Bucknell returns to action on Friday, March 10, when the team will play host to Maryland at 7:30 p.m., in Kinney Natatorium.
