Women's Water Polo Drops One-Point Game in California

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The Bucknell women's water polo team suffered its first loss on the spring break trip to California, falling to UC-San Bernardino, 8-7, at the Coyote Classic on Saturday, March 10.

Senior Julie McLaughlin (Woodside, Calif./Menlo) and freshman Kelly Hofstetter (Scotts Valley, Calif./Harbor) led the way offensively with two goals each in the losing effort.

The Bison had a solid defense, recording 19 steals as a team. Sophomore Katy Stahler (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) had six thefts for BU, while Hofstetter grabbed four in the contest. Sophomore Lindsay Chesterfield (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) recorded three steals, in addition to her seven saves.

Bucknell falls to 7-5 overall. The Bison play Chapman at 11:30 a.m., Pacific Time, on Sunday, March 11.
