Bison Women's Water Polo Slips Past Slippery Rock, 14-3

Complete Results Through Day Two LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's water polo team made it a 2-0 day with a 14-3 win over Slippery Rock on the second day of competition at the Southern Division Championship, being held in Arthur D. Kinney Jr. Natatorium this weekend. The Bison will compete in the fifth-place game on Sunday morning. BU held a 3-1 lead with 3:00 remaining in the first period, before going on to score the next eight goals in the contest. The Orange and Blue used a 5-0 second quarter to build an 8-1 halftime advantage. Bucknell got scores from five different players during the frame. Senior Katie Stahler took advantage of a 6-on-5 opportunity, scoring with 4:20 left in the second for a 4-1 lead. Just 20 seconds later, Jennifer Meitzner ran the fast break to perfection, driving home Larissa Brown's pass for a 5-1 cushion. Also scoring in the quarter were Cody Keffer, Christina Behrens and Meg Blitzer.
Bucknell gave up two late goals in the third quarter, but the squad had already built an 11-1 lead. Keffer, Jennifer Meitzner and Brown all added insurance goals in the fourth quarter.
Lindsay Chesterfield had another solid outing in the cage, stopping seven of the shots that came her way. The Orange and Blue improve to 12-14 overall. Bucknell will face Villanova at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday for fifth place and a chance to advance to the Eastern Championship.
