LEWISBURG, Pa. - Following a third-place finish at the ECAC Championship this past weekend, the Bucknell women's water polo team had three players named to the all-tournament team. Freshman Valentina Rozas (Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) earned a first-team citation, while junior Meagan Gins (Albuquerque, N.M./Valley) and senior co-captain Mandy Bynum (San Jose, Calif./Leland) landed on the second team.

Rozas totaled five goals and three assists in three games over the weekend as the Bison went 2-1. The center forward also drew seven ejections, including a season-high four against Harvard. Rozas, who is second on the team in scoring with 22 goals and 11 assists this year, also had a strong defensive weekend with five steals.

Gins, who is fourth on the Bucknell career goals list with 152, registered a team-best eight goals on the weekend and added four assists. She also racked up eight steals and drew 12 ejections, including a career-high six against Brown. Nearly halfway to her own single-season record of 70 goals with 34 this spring, Gins leads the team in goals (34), points (43) and ejections drawn (37). She is tied with Rozas for the top spot on the squad with 19 steals.

Bynum, a four-year starter in goal, made 18 saves and allowed just 24 goals in the three games. Her best performance came in a 9-7 overtime victory over Maryland where she tallied eight stops and allowed just seven goals, including none in overtime. Bynum has 103 saves this season and has vaulted her career total to 845, just 47 shy of Lindsay Chesterfield's program record.

The second seed in the eight-team ECAC Championship field, Bucknell opened the tournament with a 6-5 win over Harvard. The Bison then lost 12-9 to third-seeded Brown in the semifinals before claiming third place with that 9-7 overtime win against conference rival Maryland.

Bucknell, which is 8-7 this season, opens league play this coming weekend when it travels to Princeton, N.J. The Bison take on nationally ranked Princeton Friday at 8 p.m. and Maryland on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Princeton.
