Women's Cross Country Has A Respectable Finish at Pre-NCAA Meet

AMES, Iowa --- The Bucknell University men's and women's cross country teams raced at the prestigious Pre-NCAA Meet today in Ames, Iowa. The meet included 20 of the Top-25 teams from both the men's and women's sides, and was run on the same course the NCAA Championships will be run on later this fall.

The Bucknell women finished in 29th place as a team, and were led by junior co-captain Becki Marshall (Montgomery, N.Y./Pine Bush Central) who crossed the line in 69th place with a time of 22:21.0. Sophomores Theresa Dennis (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Hanover Area) and Andrea Beisser (Ames, Iowa/Ames) finished 97th (22:33.4) and 108th (22:38.6), respectively. Beisser ran the race in her home town. Junior Chris Crowe (State College, Pa./State College) was 238th in 24:00.5.

The men finished 52nd out of 53 teams. Sophomore Greg Costello (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) was Bucknell's top finisher, crossing the line in 217th place with a time of 33:17.7 on the 10,000-meter course. Classmate Bryan Johnston (Kane, Pa./Kane Area) and senior Josh Emery (Dushore, Pa./Sullivan County) finished 294th and 295th, respectively, with times of 34:18.7 and 34:19.1

Several Bucknell men ran in the "B Race," led by juniors Travis Etters (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and P.J. Ward (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood), who finished 44th and 45th, respectively, with times of 33:56.3 and 33:59.4.
