  • LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's cross country was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team on Wednesday. The Bison completed the fall semester with a 3.39 team grade-point average.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.

Bucknell joins 192 Division I women's programs in claiming the award. The Bison are also one of five Patriot League schools to receive recognition.

Academic awards are not new to Bucknell this year. The Orange and Blue placed 31 runners on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll earlier this month, while Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) and Alysha Hooper (Meaford, Ontario/St. Mary's) were named to the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League Team in November. Leading the way in terms of GPA this fall were Caroline Tolli (Lockport, Pa./Lockport), Coleen Gavigan (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abingdon Heights) and Amanda Steinke (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township), who all posted a perfect 4.0 in the latest term.

Bucknell closed out its cross country season with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. Just weeks earlier, the Bison finished second at the Patriot League Championships, led by all-league selections Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X), Moniz and Hooper.
