Emily Liggett Receives Senior Athletic Award at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's Emily Liggett (Grosse Point, Mich./Lawrenceville School (N.J.)), a senior on the cross country and track and field teams, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in Terrace Room on Tuesday, May 1. Liggett won the Ronald J. "Pete" Pedrick Award, presented to senior athletes "in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period." Liggett shared the award with Bryce Robertson of the football team, who was the male selection. A distance and middle-distance runner, Liggett distinguished herself later in her career. After joining the team in the winter of her freshman season as a non-recruited walk-on, she eventually became one of the most accomplished runners in program history. A 55th-place finish in the Patriot League Cross Country Championships as a junior improved to 11th place as a senior when she earned her first career nod to the All-Patriot League First Team. On the track, Liggett has set nine program top-10 marks in her final two seasons with the Bison. A member of the second-, third- and 10th-fastest outdoor distance medley relays in Bucknell history, she also ranks third in the outdoor 3,000 and 5,000 meters and eighth in the 1,500, fourth in the indoor 3,000 meters, seventh in the mile and third and fourth in the indoor distance medley. During her career, Liggett has been a member of six Patriot League Championship teams with a resume that includes one cross country title, two indoor track and field titles and three outdoor track titles.
Bucknell is a highly-selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of 3,583 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 17 of 21 years, including 13 of the last 14.
Bucknell annually ranks among the national leaders in graduation rate and is fifth in Division I in the total number of CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, with 121 national Academic All-Americans since 1970. |
