Lewisburg, Pa. - Patriot League voters made their predictions for the 2003 women's cross country season and have selected Bucknell third in the conference. The Bison garnered 79 poll points including three first place votes. Army was selected first, followed by American. Bucknell ended last season second in the league, and is expected to compete for the title in a league crowded at the top. League voters will have their predictions tested on November 1 at the Patriot League Championship at Lafayette.

Bucknell opens the season on this Saturday, Sept. 6, at the University of Detroit Invitational in Northville, Mich. Other important meets for the Bison include their only home meet of the year, the Gulden Invitational, on October 18, the Mid-Atlantic Regional on November 15 at Lock Haven but hosted by Bucknell, and the ECAC Championships on Nov. 22 in the Bronx, N.Y.

The voting body consisted of Patriot League coaches and sports information directors. Coming up behind Bucknell were Navy in fourth, Lehigh in fifth, Lafayette in sixth, Colgate in seventh, and Holy Cross in eighth. Navy is a newcomer to Patriot League cross country this season.

The Bison have won four league championships, all from 1998-2001, and have had five individual cross country champions, from 1997-2001.
